Is your system only underperforming during Autumn and Winter seasons?
If this is you, then you've come to the right page.
During Autumn and Winter, the sun path angle is reduced, meaning the sun is lower in the sky. As a result, the solar irradiation exposure on solar panels is more easily obstructed by surrounding obstacles as opposed to when the sun is directly overhead. This seasonal shift can cause nearby obstacles to cast shade onto your solar panels, and you may see the performance of your system drop dramatically.
Examples of possible obstacles that can cast shade onto your solar panels are:
- surrounding trees
- neighbouring rooftops
- neighbouring house or buildings
- aerial antennas
You do not need to be too concerned about this, because your solar system's performance will improve again once the sun is more directly overhead during Spring and Summer.
We will still alert you if your performance changes suddenly or if your system goes offline.
